Total Coverage is heading off to Windsor tomorrow for Co‑operatives 2009. The co-operative event is the UK’s biggest and most influential gathering of co‑operatives and this year will be celebrating a “better way of doing business”. It’s promising a packed agenda of plenaries, workshops, forums and debates designed to appeal to delegates from co‑operatives of all types and sizes.
This year sees the launch of the much anticipated Co‑operative Excellence Awards, and the new format for the Co‑operative Debate gives delegates the chance to shape the co‑operative agenda of the future.
Also Co‑operatives 2009 is a great opportunity to acknowledge the valuable and pioneering work of the Co‑operative College, which reaches its 90th birthday this year.
The event, organised by Co-operativesUK, takes place at Beaumont House Hotel and Conference Centre in Windsor and hopefully there’ll be plenty of facilities to fill any spare time between sessions.

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation is an independent grant making body, they fund organisations whose charitable activities help people to realise their potential and have a better quality of life.
The Foundation works across three UK programmes: Social Justice, Education and Learning and the Arts. Within each programme, funding is delivered through a combination of Open Grants, to which organisations can apply with proposals for funding innovative activities, and Special Initiatives, which are more focused interventions that aim to have an impact in a particular area. The Foundation also operates a programme of support for NGOs in India
A successful arts economy requires not only great artists, but also talented and visionary people who can enable these artists to make great things happen. Paul Hamlyn Foundation has committed £4.5m over the three years from 2007/08 to the Breakthrough Fund, which exclusively supports exceptional cultural entrepreneurs. Total Coverage has been priviledged to design a suite of leaflets that review the nominations and recipients of the Breakthrough Fund awards.

nef is an independent think-and-do tank that inspires and demonstrates real economic well-being. They aim to improve quality of life by promoting innovative solutions that challenge mainstream thinking on economic, environment and social issues.
With the economic crisis creating an increasingly challenging funding environment for third sector organisations, being able to prove and improve the value of organisations’ work is more important than ever. Total Coverage was commissioned to update nef’s popular Prove and Improve Toolkit. The main booklet - ‘tools for you’ - provides detailed summaries of the main approaches, while the accompanying tool decider and comparison chart enables the reader to quickly weigh up the benefits of different approaches in order to choose the tool that best suits their organisation’s needs. World Oceans Day 2009 is a powerful opportunity to bring local and global attention to the impact climate change is having on the ocean, what that impact will mean for ocean and human life, and how we can all make simple, important changes to reduce our CO2 emissions, halt climate change, and preserve our children’s ocean legacy. Helping make others more aware of the importance of the ocean in our lives, the opportunities each of us has to help through our daily actions, and by joining with people all over the world in celebrating World Oceans Day, we can make a real difference for our one one ocean, one climate, and one future!

This photograph is part of a series by Majority World photographer Daniel Patiño Flor, who spent two years documenting the lives of the community living on the islands in Ecuador’s Gulf of Guayaquil in the Pacific Ocean.
